3rd International Children’s Film Festival Bangladesh By cinelover on 22 January 2010 Tapan Sinha Retrospective The Children’s Film Society Bangladesh is organizing the 3rd International Children’s Film Festival Bangladesh to open a new world of cinema to the children of Bangladesh and to give them an exposure to culture and tradition of different countries through film as a powerful media of art.

The festival showcases Feature films, short films, animations and documentaries suitable for children and features a Competition for films made by children. This Cinema event closely follows the wonderful 11th Dhaka International Film Festival Festival organized in Dhaka, Bangladesh during January 14 – 22 , 2010. 3rd International Children’s Film Festival Bangladesh Dates : January 23 to 29. 2010 Venues : Central Public Library Auditorium ( Shawkat Osman hall & Seminar hall) Shishu Academy Auditorium British Council Auditorium German Cultural Centre Auditorium Russian Centre for Science & Culture Iran Cultural Centre Alliance Francaise de Dacca Inauguration : Osmani Auditorium Show Timing : Daily at 11am, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm. Other events : Day-long workshop for children. Day-long seminar on children’s film. Sharing of experience with children by 3 prominent personalities. Expected number of films to be shown : 150 Expected number of participating countries: 40 Expected audience : 50,000 Web-site: www.cfs-bangladesh.com The New Age daily newspaper published from Dhaka reports in this article about a special Tapan Sinha Retrospective with 7 films by the acclaimed Indian filmmaker: “The organisers said they would arrange a programme ‘Tapan Sinha Retrospective’ in memory of the late Indian filmmaker. Tapan Sinha’s seven films will be screened at the festival and a discussion will be held on his life and works on January 26. Filmmakers Tanvir Mokammel, Tareque Masud and Yasmin Kabir will facilitate a daylong workshop for children on films on January 25 and a daylong seminar will also be held on January 27.”
